If you had money in the till or the bank before you started using DiveOps, add it once so your reports start from the right number.
When you'd use this
- You have just started with DiveOps and the till or the bank already held money.
- Your reports show cash or bank below zero because the starting money was never entered.
Before you start
- You need permission to edit expenses. If you don't see the page in Settings, ask your owner.
- Know what was in the till and in the bank on the day before your first sale in DiveOps.
How to add an opening balance
- Open Settings → Opening balances.
- On Cash in the till or Bank account, enter the Amount and the As at date. Use the day before your first sale in DiveOps.
- Press Save. The card shows "Saved" with the amount and date.
An overdrawn bank account takes a minus amount. Each account has one opening balance.
How to change one
- Press Change on the account, enter the new amount or date, and press Save.
- Confirm Change it. The old figure is cancelled and the new one replaces it. Your history stays on record.
Tips
- The opening cash balance is not money that came into the till that day, so it does not show on the cash drawer.
- If DiveOps already has entries on that account before your As at date, it saves and warns you. Check the date is right.
- Cash taken to the bank later goes in Finance → Cash Drawer → Move money, not here.
Troubleshooting
- Symptom: the accountant export asks you to map account 3200. Cause / fix: opening balances post to account 3200 (Opening balance equity). If you use a saved DATEV or FEC account map, add 3200 to it once, then export again.
- Symptom: you changed an opening balance after an export was sent. Cause / fix: the next export shows the old entry as cancelled and the new one beside it. Tell your accountant.
