Dive Log (compliance record)

Last updated Tue Sep 01 2026 00:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

Keeps a signed record of every dive your centre runs, for centres in places where the law requires one (such as Malta). It fills itself in from what you have already planned, so signing off a dive takes a tap or two.

When you'd use this

  • You operate somewhere that requires a signed log for every training or fun dive.
  • You need an audit-ready record of who dived, where, the times, the maximum depth, any incident, and who signed it off.
  • Your inspector may ask to see these records going back two years.

Before you start

  • The Dive Log appears only for centres set to a country where it is required. If you don't see it, it isn't needed for your location (ask your centre owner if you think it should be on).
  • Set your Director of Diving first: open the Dive Log, click the ⚙ settings button, and choose the person who will countersign each log. Nothing can be locked until this is set.
  • Anyone on the team can fill in and sign a log. Only the Director of Diving can countersign it.

How to log a dive

  1. Open Dive Log from the sidebar. You'll see every dive planned for the day, one card each, with the date arrows to move between days.
  2. Before the dive — on a new card, tap Confirm plan. This signs off the plan (site, guide, divers, purpose) and records that a risk assessment was done. Nothing to type.
  3. After the dive — tap Add actuals. The in and out times fill in automatically if the guide used Diver Watch. Type the maximum depth, confirm the site actually dived (it may differ from the plan in bad weather), add an incident note only if something happened, then tap Sign actuals.
  4. Countersign — the Director of Diving opens the card and taps Countersign. The log locks and can no longer be changed.
  5. A locked log shows a PDF button — that's the audit-ready copy you can print or hand to an inspector.

Tips

  • The colour stripe and the counter at the top show at a glance what's still outstanding, so nothing is missed at the end of the day.
  • Times come from Diver Watch. If a guide didn't use it, the time boxes stay blank and you can leave them or note them.
  • A locked record is final by design (the law treats it as a signed document). If something is genuinely wrong, contact support rather than trying to edit it.

Troubleshooting

  • Symptom: the card won't countersign → Cause / fix: either no Director of Diving is set (do that in ⚙ settings), or you are not the Director of Diving — only they can countersign.
  • Symptom: "no dives to log" for the day → Cause / fix: group the divers into an outing (or a course dive) on the Planner first; the dive then appears here ready to sign.
  • Symptom: the times are blank on the actuals → Cause / fix: the guide didn't run a Diver Watch for that dive; enter the times by hand or leave them.
