Gear is your equipment inventory — condition, service schedules, and who has what checked out. The check-out screen is a fast, tap-friendly way for staff to take kit out and bring it back.
When you'd use this
- Adding equipment and tracking its condition.
- Checking gear out to staff and back in.
The inventory (Gear)
- Open Gear and press Add Gear.
- Record category, item code, brand/model, size, condition (New / Good / Fair / Poor), purchase details and a service interval.
- Stat cards show Total Items, Checked Out, Service Due, Poor / Retired. The table shows each item's status ("Available" or "Checked out to {name}"), uses and service-due date.
Checking gear out and in (Gear Check Out)
- Open Gear → Check Out (a tap-friendly screen).
- Pick who you are.
- Check out: choose a category, tap items into the basket, press Check Out {n}.
- Check in: see what you have out, set Condition on return (Good / Fair / Poor / Damaged) and any Damage notes, then Check In All.
Tips
- Each check-out and return is logged against the item, building its usage history.
- Servicing of gear for customers (paid jobs) is separate — see finance-servicing.md.
