Dive centres in Sri Lanka

What should a dive centre in Sri Lanka run on?

Sri Lanka dives on two monsoons: the west and south coasts in the northern winter, the east coast around Trincomalee in the summer. Some centres move with the season, and most serve visitors from Europe, India and further afield. DiveOps keeps the divers, the records and the boats in one login, whichever coast you are on.

The short answer

DiveOps is dive centre software that keeps the diver records Sri Lanka's tourism authority asks for: certification, logged experience, a medical form and a registration form for every diver, gathered on the phone before arrival. It also plans boats by guide, runs gear, courses and payroll, and answers WhatsApp 24/7.

What the SLTDA guideline asks of every diver

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority's guideline for registering scuba diving centres sets minimum diver requirements: a certification card from a recognised agency, a logbook showing open water experience, a recent medical certificate clearing the diver to dive and a completed diver registration form. It also limits an instructor or divemaster to five divers in the water and keeps try dives to 12 metres.

DiveOps collects the diver's details, certification and medical form on their phone before they arrive. A checked certification records who checked it and when, and the trip sheet groups divers by guide so group sizes are clear before the boat leaves. DiveOps does not make a centre compliant; it keeps the records together so they are there when asked for.

West coast in winter, east coast in summer

From roughly November to April the diving is on the west and south coasts, from Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna to Mirissa. Around May the season moves east to Trincomalee, Pigeon Island National Park off Nilaveli, and Batticaloa. Some teams follow the sea from one coast to the other.

DiveOps lets a centre plan each season once, with a year of dive-site pairings, a weather fallback for each day and live weather and tide for your exact spot. Staff rosters and payroll follow the team wherever it is working.

Marine parks and emergency planning

The same guideline asks centres to get prior approval before diving marine protected areas, to keep a written operating procedure with an emergency action plan, and to drill staff on it every three months. Instructors need a valid instructional licence from a recognised agency.

DiveOps keeps each staff member's certificates and insurance with expiry warnings before they lapse, and every boat's trip sheet shows who is in the water and with whom.

A 24/7 WhatsApp front desk in the diver's language

Visitors from the UK, Germany, Russia, India and beyond message from home and from their hotel, often late in the evening. DiveOps' WhatsApp AI answers on your centre's own number through the official Meta Business API, replies in under 2 minutes, handles around 92% of routine questions itself and sends your booking link. A person at the centre confirms every booking and can take over any chat.

Your currency, payments and one plan

DiveOps runs each centre in one currency, set when you join. Many Sri Lankan centres quote visitors in US dollars or euros, and both work today; if you price in rupees, ask about it on your demo. Payments can be taken by payment link with PayPal where it is available to you, or recorded at the desk. Courses, gear and cylinders, the shop till, reports and double-entry books are all in the same login, and centres get roughly 8 hours a week of admin back.

DiveOps is one plan with every feature, priced by the number of divers you run through the year. Book a demo and see it set up against your own boats and coast.

Questions, answered.

Can DiveOps hold the diver records the SLTDA guideline lists?

Yes. Each diver's details, certification and medical form are filled in on their phone before they arrive, and a checked certification records who checked it and when. DiveOps keeps the records together; it does not register or certify a centre.

We move between the west and east coasts. Does that work?

Yes. Plan each season's dive sites once, with weather fallbacks, and staff rosters and payroll follow the team. The booking page, gear and books stay the same.

Does DiveOps work in Sri Lankan rupees?

Not yet. A centre can price in US dollars or euros today, which many Sri Lankan centres already quote to visitors. If you price in rupees, ask about it on your demo.

How much does DiveOps cost for a centre in Sri Lanka?

One plan with every feature, priced by the number of divers you run through the year. The pricing page has the details, or book a demo for a figure against your own numbers.
