There are three WhatsApps, and only one is safe to automate
It helps to separate them clearly, because they are easy to confuse and the difference matters a lot for a busy centre.
- The consumer app. The green WhatsApp on your phone. Fine for chatting with mates, not built for a business and impossible to automate properly.
- The WhatsApp Business app. A free app with a catalogue, quick replies and labels. Better, but it lives on one phone, one staff member holds it, and it cannot run a 24/7 AI on top.
- The WhatsApp Business API. Meta's official platform for software to send and receive messages on your business number. No phone tied to a desk, multiple staff can work the same number, and approved software can answer automatically. This is the one a dive centre should build on.
What a Meta Tech Provider is, and why it matters to you
To use the official API, your number has to be connected to it through an approved business. Meta calls that approved business a Tech Provider. It is the company Meta has vetted to set up and run the official connection on a centre's behalf.
DiveOps is a registered Meta Tech Provider. In practice that means we handle the official Meta connection for you, so you never touch an API, a token or a config file, and there is no third-party reseller sitting between you and Meta. The WhatsApp Business Account and the number stay registered to your centre. If you ever left DiveOps, the number is yours to take with you.
Works alongside your PADI or SSI workflow
This is operations software, not a certification system. PADI and SSI run their own platforms for certifications and digital cards, and DiveOps does not touch that. It sits alongside, handling the enquiries, bookings and day-to-day admin around your courses while your agency's own systems handle the certification side. DiveOps is independent software and is not endorsed by, partnered with or certified by any training agency.
